An equestrian centre and racehorse training stables just outside Galston is the latest Ayrshire business to have a visit from Brian Whittle MSP.
The South Scotland parliamentarian paid a visit to West Loudoun Equestrian Centre and met with owner Michael Smith before getting a tour of the facilities and an introduction to some of the horses stabled there.
Stable owner Mike Smith has spent his entire life around horses and turned his passion into a successful business. Set in more than 150 acres of land, the centre offers a wide range of riding lessons for everyone, from total beginners to advanced riders. The business also caters for horse owners looking for somewhere to keep and care for their horse.
Alongside the equestrian centre, Mike runs a racehorse stable where he trains a number of thoroughbred racehorses for private owners and syndicates, many of which have gone on to run in
Stable owner Mike Smith said “I appreciated Brian taking the time to come and visit. It’s great to see local politicians engaging with small local businesses like ours and I thoroughly enjoyed discussing our shared views on the importance of sport and outdoor activity for children and young people.”
Brian Whittle MSP said “It was a pleasure to meet Mike and hear more about his business. Horse riding is a popular pastime in Ayrshire and a great way to explore the local countryside and it’s good to see businesses like West Loudoun giving people the chance to try riding.
The passion Mike has for horses and bringing on racehorses is clear to see and I hope his success continues for years to come.”
