Local MSP Brian Whittle has welcomed his appointment to the Holyrood Committee that will lead the scrutiny of Scotland’s recovery from the pandemic.
The South Scotland MSP has been confirmed as a Member of the new Covid-19 Recovery Committee. The Committee will examine how the Scottish Government propose to help Scotland recover and rebuild from the effects of the pandemic as well as dealing with any legislation that relates to the country’s response to Covid.
Brian, who has previously been a member of the Health & Sport Committee and the Public Petitions Committee, says getting Scotland’s recovery right will be crucial to the future of everything from the economy to the NHS and tackling climate change.
Brian Whittle MSP said:
“I’m pleased to be appointed to the Covid-19 Recovery Committee. The decisions made by parliament and the Scottish Government as we begin the process of recovering from the effects of the pandemic will set the course of Scotland’s future for years to come.
It’s vital that parliament properly scrutinises the measures being taken by the Scottish Government and has the opportunity to improve legislation and hold Ministers accountable for their actions.
I look forward to working with the other members of the Committee to help deliver a strong recovery for the whole of Scotland”
