Brian Whittle MSP has welcomed the opening of a new walk-through coronavirus testing centre in Kilmarnock.
The new centre, which is the latest to be opened by the UK government in Scotland, has been set up within the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock town centre. It’s part of a series of new walk-through facilities which are being created to make it easier for people without a car to get a test.
The UK now has capacity to process over half a million tests a day and that number continues to rise. Scottish Conservative Brian is urging anyone with symptoms to get a test and self-isolate if asked to do so.
Tests must be booked in advance online via NHS Inform or by calling 0800 028 2816.
Brian Whittle MSP said:
“Even with vaccines now becoming available, testing remains one of the most powerful tools we have in controlling the spread of Covid-19.
The UK government have put in a huge amount of effort to set up testing sites across Scotland and the new walk-through centres make it even easier for anyone with symptoms to access a test.
It takes a big team effort to set up these new centres and I want to thank everyone who’s helped to get the Grand Hall centre open.”
