Brian Whittle MSP has urged the public to stick with it as the Scottish Government announced the levels of restrictions that would apply to each local authority area.
With local authority areas across the central belt, including all the Ayrshire council areas being placed in tier 3, Brian is encouraging the public to follow the guidance and help get case numbers down.
The South Scotland MSP and Scottish Conservative public health spokesperson described the new tiers as “difficult, but necessary” but added that the Scottish Government must do more to protect jobs and people’s mental health over the coming months.
Brian Whittle MSP said:
“Living with these restrictions isn’t easy for anyone. They are a difficult but necessary step to help save lives but we all need to work together to ensure we can more into a lower level as soon as possible.
The simple fact is that the more everyone follows the guidance, the faster we get case numbers under control and the restrictions can be relaxed.
Getting ourselves in a lower tier, and keeping ourselves there matters. It’s not just about controlling the virus, it’s about protecting jobs by allowing more businesses to stay open and protecting our mental health by being able to see friends and family and do the things we enjoy.
Tighter restrictions to control the virus come at a cost elsewhere in our lives. The Scottish Government cannot afford to lose sight of the bigger picture here.”
