Brian Whittle the Conservative MSP for South Scotland visited a new award-winning Taylor Wimpey development, in Kilmarnock with NHBC to see first-hand how the site is delivering much needed, quality new homes for the area.
Hosted by NHBC and Taylor Wimpey, Brian Whittle MSP was led by site manager Colin Hurren, who recently won an NHBC Quality Award for his management of the site. The visit highlighted the different types of homes being built, cost and the local amenities that will be available for the residents.
John Johnston, NHBC Inspection Manager explained to Mr. Whittle how NHBC manages risk and compliance with an overview of its technical requirements, highlighting how the leading UK warranty and insurance provider for new homes work with builders to help them improve the construction quality of the homes they build for the benefit of the homeowners.
Brian Whittle MSP said: “It was a pleasure to meet the team from NHBC and Taylor Wimpey to hear more about their work. There’s huge demand in Scotland for good quality homes and the NHBC play a vital role in delivering that. With more people looking to put down roots somewhere with the countryside and coast on their doorstep but still in easy reach of Glasgow, demand for new homes in South and East Ayrshire continues to grow. I’m pleased to see that the NHBC is working hard to ensure new homes, here and elsewhere in Scotland, meet the high standards homeowners expect”.
John Johnston added: “We were delighted to welcome Mr. Whittle around this great development. This is an excellent example of Taylor Wimpey providing high-quality new homes for people living and working in and around the Kilmarnock area, whilst being a short drive from the seaside where they’ll be able to enjoy Ayrshire’s finest coastline. It is always lovely to be able to showcase a development which sits in such a beautiful part of the country. All homes built on the site also benefit from the 10-year NHBC Buildmark warranty.”
