South Scotland MSP Brian Whittle visited HBSA Hospital Radio at Crosshouse Hospital Kilmarnock, for an informal interview with hospital radio presenter Simon Jenkinson. During the interview, Whittle, a former European & Olympic athlete, discussed his sporting career, the people who had inspired him, the importance of encouraging young people to take up sport, his continuing work as a coach and how he had gone from being a professional sportsperson to a politician.
During the show Brian also talked about his favourite music from the ‘80s and his love of classic rock. Brian enjoyed the visit so much he’s already made plans for a return visit to co-host a “Rock Hour” later in the year.
Commenting, Brian Whittle MSP said:
“It was great to visit HBSA Hospital Radio and chat with Simon about something other than politics. I couldn’t resist the opportunity when Simon offered to have me back and spend an entire hour talking about my favourite songs. Music is an important part of people’s lives and, if you find yourself in hospital, it can be a great way to keep your mind active. I look forward to coming back later in the year; hopefully the listeners will enjoy it too!”
