Brian Whittle MSP is backing plans that would deliver a guaranteed fair funding deal for local authorities from the Scottish Government.
Scottish Conservative Brian is supporting the plans announced by his party to put an end to the continual issues with councils being underfunded by the SNP administration at Holyrood.
Under the proposals, Scotland’s councils would be guaranteed a set proportion of the Scottish Government budget each year.
Brian criticised the SNP’s handling of council budgets, accusing them of slashing them over their 13 years in government, harming local services as a result. The South Scotland MSP believes that his party’s proposals can deliver more certainty to local authorities and help rebuild communities across Ayrshire.
Commenting, Brian Whittle MSP said:
“Year after year, we’ve seen the SNP slashing council budgets, making it harder and harder to deliver local services and invest in the area.
With these new proposals from the Scottish Conservatives, councils would get a fair funding deal that gives more certainty and puts an end to the annual disputes.
Councils are a vital part of efforts to rebuild our local communities and that means they need the funding to deliver high quality public services local people need.”
